About
Wholepoint Publications has since 1997 on the internet, brought you indepth and detailed knowledge on The Style Council |
|
The WHOLEPOINT site www.wholepoint.co.uk was always recognised as the source for accurate and detailed information on the band. Exclusive interviews with former Style Councillor's appeared and ideas of a book evolved. In 1998 HMV approached us looking to release a strictly limited edition book with The forthcoming Style Council 5 CD box set. This proved a huge success with copies selling out fast - It then changed hands for big money on ebay (£101).
In 2002 all the information gathered to date was turned into a 3 year project and in January 2006 this became reality with the release of a near 200 page paperback edition. It was an honour during that time to get the backing of so many Honorary Style Councillor's and of course a major coup to get The Cappuccino Kid on board for an exclusive introduction. In March 2005 a limited number of preview copies were sent out and Paul Weller gave it his backing, claiming it is "the last word on The Style Council" and that the information presented was "painstakingly accurate." Highly respected drummer Steve White said it was the "definitive record of a great band" and brass player Stewart Prosser called it a "fantastic piece of work." Many more have given their thoughts and these can be accessed from the Mr Cool's Dream menu tab. The fans too had their say and a small extract of quotes a few can be found here also. 100% self published and against many hurdles the book appeared on Amazon, Tesco, WH Smith websites and within selected Virgin Megastores. . Even the most loyal fans were discovering information and releases they had previously been unaware of. It is also now quoted as a source of information on various forums. This is an independantly released publication which means the book contains the information as we wanted it to appear. Mr Cool's Dream is according to Brit award winner Paul Weller "painstakingly accurate" and it continued to receive rave reviews into 2008. | |

HMV Records
A cut down early version of Mr Cool's Dream was released in a very limited amount at HMV stores only for anyone who bought a Style Council box set in the store in 1998. HMV had to remove a great deal of content in their interest - However, it sold out quickly and was much saught after selling on ebay for £101. Still to this day a much requested booklet. |
Shout To The Top - The Style Council Story, Radio 2
This was aired on BBC Radio 2 a few years back as 2 x 1 hour episodes detailing in excellent detail the history of The Style Council. It featured exclusive interviews with former Style Councillor's and also some rare, unheard footage from radio sessions. Wholepoint Publications contributed to this also.
The Style Council box set
In 1998 the definitive box set was released. This was a 5 CD epic containing for the first time Modernism: A New Decade. Wholepoint assisted Dennis Munday greatly in the creation of this and the included colour book. Iain Munn got an "extra special thanks" for his contributions. |
